Our firm is constantly searching for ways to improve, learn and grow. John has a saying, “If you regularly find yourself as the smartest person in the room, it is time to find a different room.” We can all learn from one another.

In an effort to learn more about the use of power and care, leadership and compassion, John traveled to Brussels, Belgium. A non-profit organization close to John’s heart is PeaceJam. As you can read about here from John’s trip to Ghana with PeaceJam, he was touched at his soul by the kids in Africa who were seeking to better themselves through a PeaceJam curriculum. When it came time for PeaceJam to enter Europe for the first time, they chose Belgium- a recent locale of terrorism, refugee conflict and multi-cultural epicenter. Nobel Laureate Jody Williams was the scheduled speaker. An American righteous crusader, Jody received a Peace Prize for her work banning landmines across the globe. She now works on other weapons of destruction and speaks about equality and justice.

Channel 4 interviewed John about his experience:

Here, Jody Williams references John in an excerpt of her speech.

Later that afternoon, Jody Williams was on the panel of Mind & Life Europe’s Conference on Power & Care. His Holiness The Dalai Lama presided over the entire three day conference. John attended every session except the session he was with Mrs. Jody Williams at PeaceJam.

John sat front row at Mind & Life Europe’s Conference on Power & Care. You can download the program here and watch the program here.

John got somewhat of a selfie from His Holiness and, a few minutes later, was introduced from afar by the person who sat next to John during the conference. John got a wave and a prayerful nod. You might be able to see John floating off of his seat after that.

We work hard to learn from the best to best represent our clients and make the world a better place. More photos:
