Personal Injury – $20,000 & System Change

Andrew Flaherty, of Jacksonville, was mistakenly labeled a sexual offender on his state ID card, and 42-year-old Tammy Lemasters, of Clermont, was mistakenly labeled as a sexual predator on her driver’s license. We represented both. Because of our work, the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles changed the way its computer systems work and put in protections against this happening in the future. Both simply wanted to be an organ donor and instead were wrongly labeled by the State of Florida as sex offenders due to the erroneous click of a mouse with no fail-safe protections. The State later admitted it happened to 100’s of people. We not only got a settlement for Flaherty, but also got the entire statewide system changed.
