Joseph Maldonado’s Motion for Summary Judgment in Music Case
Media has been talking about Joseph Maldonado (aka Joe Exotic from Tiger King) being transferred to a Florida jail. We can confirm this is true. In 2022, We filed a lawsuit against Vince Johnson, BMG, Create Music and others as Vince Johnson was publishing and fighting rights to several songs made popular in Tiger King. Johnson had already fully given up all rights to this music AND signed a confidentiality agreement prohibiting him from discussing the matter. The Court may be transferring this case to Oklahoma, as that is where the contract originated, but is holding a mediation this month and Maldonado has been moved to a Florida jail such that he can appear. His deposition will also be conducted if it doesn’t settle. The criminal justice system is so messed up that instead of moving Joe days before the hearing, they essentially make him endure months of travel and sacrifice to his health as Joe requires treatment for various medical conditions.
We hope the court will soon address our Motion for Summary Judgment. This case should have been an easy breach of contract case.
